The Hudson Headwaters 340B team recently partnered with our parent company, Hudson Headwaters Health Network to participate in the CEO Blood Drive Challenge. The goal of this massive community effort was to meet the critical need for blood donations, as noted by the Red Cross.  Team members from a  number of local companies participated in this event every other Wednesday from November through the end of January.

This seven part donor drive raised 1000+ pints of blood, far exceeding the initial goal of 294 pints. There were 345 presenting donors that donated 276 times. 42 of the donors were giving blood for the first time ever. The results of the CEO challenge per business are listed below:

  • 75 – Hudson Headwaters Health Network & Hudson Headwaters 340B
  • 14 – TCT Credit Union
  • 2 – SUNY Adirondack
  • 25 – Arrow Financial
  • 5 – Glens Falls Hospital
  • 5 – Six Flags Great Escape
  • 219 – not listed with a specific organization

Hudson Headwaters 340B President Jim Donnelly remarks, “What a gift to give!” about the drive that took place over the holiday season. Sales and Marketing Manager, Mike Fitzgerald says “It was a great experience helping the Red Cross with this event. We know there is always a need for blood donations and even more so during a pandemic. Seeing our community answer the call to provide this vital resource filled all of us who volunteered with a strong sense of pride. Our neighbors and colleagues that donated are the true heroes and I hope we can continue to help moving forward”.  Various team members were happy to participate in this small way to benefit the larger community.

With clients nationwide, we encourage everyone to research blood drives in their respective communities and work to meet critical need. For more information on hosting or attending a drive near you, please head to: www.redcrossblood.org.
