The first week of the virtual 340B Coalition Winter Conference completed last Friday, providing attendees three days of sessions and networking opportunities. Hudson Headwaters 340B has enjoyed interacting through the viritual exhibit hall and tuning into both live and on demand sessions being offered on the virtual conference platform. This is the second event that the 340B coalition has adapted to the virtual experience due to the COVID-19 pandemic and concerns of traveling and gathering the thousands of health leaders that would typically attend.
As a scavenger hunt sponsor, the Hudson Headwaters 340B team is able to utilize a new “Talk Now” feature during exhibition hours. This feature allows attendees to start a video chat directly within the platform to speak to a representative from a given organization. Mike Fitzgerald, Stephanie Willis, and James Donnelly have enjoyed using this feature to represent the Hudson 340B team during the conference and have meaningful conversations with those looking to talk 340B. There are four more opportunities to use the talk now feature:
This 340B Coalition event gives attendees a chance to hear from renowned speakers, leaders, and educators on all things 340B. Maureen Testoni, President and CEO of 340B Health, delivered welcome remarks to conference attendees noting that 64% of those registered are from covered entities while 36% are from manufacturers or other service providers. When addressing the current environment of 340B, Testoni says, “As 340B came under more diress, program champions stepped up. Most members of congress signed onto a letter calling for unlawful pricing behavior to stop.”
The notable keynote address of Donna E. Shalala, Former Secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, lent a strong message of hope for future program integrity. Shalala is a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award along with a myriad of other notable accomplishments from her leadership roles within the academic and healthcare sectors. The conference website lists her accolades, “She was named “America’s Best Leaders” by U.S. News & World Report (2005), received the Nelson Mandela Award for Health and Human Rights (2010), and was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame (2011).” When asked her advice on program advocacy Shalala says, “Keep putting a human face on the program. That human face will resonate with both parties. The program saves lives and keeps institutions healthy.”
Hudson Headwaters 340B is offering a limited time FREE Policy and Procedure overview during this conference to help covered entities kick start their compliance in 2021. This free overview will assess key areas of an entities P and P’s with a focus on if the information would be considered satisfactory or need improvement in the case of a HRSA audit. This free review can be upgraded into a full audit experience or compliance assessment based on an entity’s need for compliance oversight. To learn more about this offer, send us a message or stop by our virtual booth!
Our team looks forward to attending the remaining sessions and networking opportunities over the next few days as we remained immersed in the continued advocacy needed to sustain this vital program for so many covered entities nation wide. The Hudson 340B team understands the issues that covered entities are facing first-hand, as our business grew out of the need to manage the homegrown program for Hudson Headwaters Health Network (FQHC).
